Interior Design Dispute

The Claimant
Our claimant purchased a full-floor penthouse in the JBR, Marina district in Dubai. He had engaged an interior design company to work on the interior design of the penthouse.

Our Approach
The items provided by the interior design company were not as per the Bill of Quantities (BoQ). Furthermore, the quality of furniture provided was far from that agreed upon in the BoQ. This was established by performing an expert assessment of the relevant documentation and an on-site inspection.

The Outcome
Article Articles 386 and 389 of the UAE civil code provide that the judge must assess compensation in an amount equivalent to the damage caused by the breach of contract. We submitted an expert report on the matter and the client was awarded the difference between the contracted and received amount.

The Court issued the judgment for payment to be made.
